Hill looking forward to local derby

Date published: 06 September 2013

It's derby day this Saturday as Rochdale host local rivals Bury in the first league encounter between the two sides since January 2012.

Manager Keith Hill is looking forward to the encounter and says supporters can play an important part.

He said: “I look forward to the competitive nature of the derby, but psychologically I’ve got to make sure I’m level headed with respect to the preparation and not get too involved in the side shows that can occur. It’s just two teams going head to head, but I’m excited by the challenge on behalf of the supporters. The players are up for the challenge, but I want us to be able to think clearly and I want competitive composure from the players.

“Supporters can definitely be the key twelfth man. Fans support, and supporters are magnificent in the pursuit of glory, and I’m looking forward to their encouragement and their part to play in what should be a magnificent game.”
