Cobras 4 – 52 Mayfield

Date published: 15 August 2013

Mayfield NWML side ran out comfortable winners in this friendly fixture at Firgrove.

Playing with a much more experienced squad and having the benefit of being near the end of a successful season, Mayfield were never really troubled by an under strength Cobras.

Mayfield started strongly with Lewis Sheridan and Sean Snape proving too much for the home side to handle.

Playing uphill in the first half Mayfield stamped their superiority on the game with early tries.

As the half progressed Cobras did their utmost to get back in contention but their opponents proved too strong.

The home side managed a score ten minutes from half time and were unlucky not to grab another but some fierce defence from the Mayfield side kept them at bay when they needed to.

The second half belonged to Mayfield as the Cobras ran out of steam and could not keep the rampant Mayfield side at bay.

Mayfield coaches Anthony Greaves and Craig White were very pleased with their team’s performance after asking for a concerted effort to improve on their defence.

Damian Corcoran, Mark Nyland, James Percy and Sean Snape were all outstanding in the pack for Mayfield while Nick Hargreaves, Billy Percy Luke Hartley and John Marsland all performed well in the backs.
