Cricket: Rain denies Lancashire Disabled roses victory

Date published: 11 August 2013

In a match reduced to 30 overs per side Lancashire disabled were denied a roses victory by rain at Blackrod CC.

Winning the toss Lancashire decided to bat first and scored at a healthy rate to finish on 183 for 5 from their 30 overs.

John Simpson was the first to go for 21 with the score on 61.

This brought in Mark McDonald who, along with Rick Holmes, put on 47 before Rick Holmes was bowled by Robinson.

Nigel Robinson fell cheaply for 10  but Mark was still going strong.

Stefan Holmes also fell for ten, which brought in 14-year-old Tyler Preece for his debut. Whilst only scoring one, Tyler enabled Mark to compile runs at the other end until he was stumped.

Steve Kenny, along with Mark, finished the innings on 183, with Mark 69 not out.

An excellent batting performance from all the batsmen to compile a competitive total.

Yorkshire's innings started in gloomy conditions and they were soon in trouble losing two wickets for 31 from 10 overs, until the rain came to save them.
