Mayfield Mustangs Under 7s
Mayfield Under 7s travelled to Ashton in Makerfield to take on the Bears in their last game before the summer break.

The youngest Mayfield team came up with a great performance, showing tenacity in defence and some sparkling attack.

Top defenders were Vinnie Wainwright, Tyler Kenwright, Jamie Howe and Issac Reid, who displayed text book leg tackling to repel the home side’s attack. Tries came from Zak Wood, Vinnie Wainwright, Mason Andrews-Smith, Jamie Howe and, ‘Man of the Match’, Issac Reid.

Great enthusiasm and team spirit was shown by Billy Pickering, Samuel Ellis, Johnny Joyce and Jacob Andrews-Smith.

Training for the under 7s (current school year 2) continues throughout the summer on each Saturday at 11am at Mayfield. Contact Simon on 07920865106 for further details.

Mayfield Mustangs Under 9s
It was a very close game indeed by Mayfield Under 9s on Sunday (28 July) as they battled against Thatto Heath.

The Mustangs were short on numbers again, yet they made another massive step to closing the gap on the top sides in the league. All built around a good defence, ‘Man of the Match’ was shared by Max Wood and Alfie Glover for an outstanding game. They were both pushed all the way by Owen Webster, who also had a great game. ‘Top Tackler’ went to Harvey Wolfe for 14 tackles in only his second game.

‘Magic Moment’ went to Louis Bamford for a big hit that sent the lad back 20 yards. Fantastic games in defence from Ellis Tracey, Ellis Mitchell, Hayden Bell and Peter Reilly-Day as well as some good go forward and talk from Kyle Corcoran. Keep it up lads.

Next week the Mustangs travel over to Saddleworth to take part in their annual festival.
