Cricket: Heywood firsts new kit sponsor

Date published: 31 July 2013

Heywood CC 1st XI have a new shirt sponsor for the next three years.

The kits have been sponsored by Peter Cramb, a cricket enthusiast and long-time friend and former colleague of club president Bob Cross’ wife Helen.

A client of Bob’s, Peter, heard that the club had lost its kit sponsor and has now pledged £1,000 for the next three years to sponsor the first team kits.

The kit will bear the names of Peter’s partner Jan’s grand-daughter, Olivia Megan Gordon, across the front of the shirt, with the initials OMG on the sleeves.

Olivia, 11, is a pupil at Bury Grammar School, and recently went down to the club to present a shirt bearing her initials on the sleeve to captain Bobby Cross. The full kits – made by Kukri – will be ready by the end of the season.

A delighted Bob said: “It was Jean O’Keefe who mentioned it to Peter and it went from there.

“We are all very grateful to Peter for contributing what is a significant sum to the club and providing the new kits.”
