Two new recruits
Date published: 26 July 2013
Goalkeeper Robbie Thomson and defender Javan Vidal have agreed to join Dale.
Thomson has agreed a one-year-deal, subject to approval from the Football League, FA and international clearance.
The 20-year-old was offered a contract after impressing during a three week trial with the club.
Thomson, a former Celtic youth player, has featured in four pre-season friendly matches for Dale - the wins over Northwich Victoria, FC Halifax Town, Stalybridge Celtic and the draw against Blackburn Rovers.
Manager Keith Hill commented: “Having witnessed in training what his capabilities are, Robbie is in sync with what I expect from a goalkeeper. We'll continue to progress him, develop him and give him an opportunity.
“For me, it’s great that we’ve brought him in as a rival to Josh Lillis as I believe with the recruitment of Robbie that we’ve got two very capable goalkeepers.”
Javan Vidal, 24, is a former Manchester City and Stockport County defender.
Vidal, who has spent the last three weeks on trial with Dale, has joined the club on non-contract terms.
