Cricket: Milnrow professionalism thorn in Middleton's side

Date published: 23 July 2013

Milnrow's professionalism was the thorn in Middleton's side. Babar Naeem took three wickets and scored an unbeaten 138 for Milnrow, as he won the game for his side.

Batting first, Middleton knocked up a defendable total of 226 for 9 off their 50 overs. This was down mainly to a century from Scott Stanworth. With ten overs to go, the batting side were on 191 for 3, but Milnrow did well to restrict them to 226.

In reply, Middleton took early wickets thanks to Saq Mahmood and Steve Holmes, and Milnrow found themselves 60 for 3. But Tom Hicklin was the last man to fall, as Naeem and Max Power knocked the runs off in the 48th over.
