Cricket: Twenty/20 Finals Day preview

Date published: 19 July 2013

Rochdale Cricket Club will stage the Central Lancashire Cricket League’s T20 finals day on Sunday 21 July.

Rochdale beat Monton & Weaste by 35 runs in the quarter finals. They are joined in the semi finals by Littleborough, who beat Royton, and Milnrow who overcame Werneth. Rochdale's opponents Unsworth beat Middleton to reach finals day.

The day's play begins at 10am with Rochdale playing Milnrow. This is followed by Littleborough against Unsworth. The final is then expected to start around 5.00pm.

Neville Fletcher, chairman of the Central Lancashire Cricket League, said: “All the pitches within the league are of great standard so Rochdale being hosts shouldn’t have that much of an advantage on the day.”

During the event there will also be a number of activities including: cafe, bouncy castle and speed gun challenge.

There will also be a barbeque and outside bars to keep the public refreshed on what is expected to be another hot day.

This is all aimed at making it an event for the whole family which will add to the normal cricket crowd.

Mr Fletcher went on to say. “It’s always good to attract young fans to local clubs. The Ashes is on at the moment and that has definitely generated more interested in cricket.”
