Cricket: Lancashire Disabled Cricket back to winning ways

Lancashire disabled cricket team got back to winning ways with a comprehensive win away at Northamptonshire.

Lancashire won the toss on a hot day at Wollaston Cricket Cub and decided to bat on what proved to be a good batting wicket. 

Lancs started off briskly with runs coming at both ends until skipper Tony Foster was given out caught off a bump ball for 14.

Nnext in was Callum Savage who departed for 0 with the score on 42, bringing Nigel Robinson to the crease.

Nigel, along with opener Rick Holmes, proceeded to compile a good stand of 64 before Rick got a good one for 40.

next at the crease was Mark McDonald, who along with Nigel, compiled a partnership of 116 until Nigel was needlessly run out for 90, his best score of the season with the score on 224.

This brought in Stefan Holmes, who along with Mark, took the score to 250-4 at the end of 40 overs. Mark finishing with 66 not out and Stefan five not out. 

Northants lost their first wicket for 17, Barton run out by Tony Foster for eight.

Next wicket to fall was Towler for 10 caught Savage off the bowling of McDonald.

Next to fall was Law caught McDonald off the bowling of Savage.

Frantham the next to fall caught Robinson off the bowling of Holmes for seven.

The next three wickets fell for 0 with stumper Tony Foster taking three stumping’s off the bowling of Holmes and Wilson.

The next 2 wickets fell to Simpson both bowled for 0.

The final wicket fell to Savage, who bowled Fowler for 82 to leave Northants 148 all out off 25.4 overs.

The Lancs batsmen set up a good win but the rest of the team backed up in the field to ensure a win against a good Northants side.

Lancs next fixture is against Yorkshire Disabled at Blackrod CC on 4 August.
