New Active8ME programme

Date published: 18 July 2013

Active8ME is the new programme designed to help get adults more active, more often.

To be launched in September it's the rule of 8 – 8 sports, 8 centres, 8 great reasons to participate. The 8 sports are athletics, badminton, cycling, exercise and fitness, football, golf, rounders and swimming.

Link4Life will base the activities around its 8 main hub centres with an additional network of supporting community venues.

Building stamina, meeting new friends, feeling good and increasing fitness are just some of the benefits to those taking part.

Active8Me is a three year programme designed to get over 25,000 residents taking part in one of these activities.

Over £200,000 of National Lottery funding from Sport England's Community Sport Activation Fund will support the programme.

The first Activ8teMe session is now live with the chance to get 'Into Golf' every Tuesday from 10am-11am at Marland Golf Course – with professional tuition on putting, chipping and pitching from the resident Golf Pro for only £2 a session. If you want to give golf a go then to book a place contact Danny Youd on 01706 649801.
