Dale sign new goalkeeper

Date published: 22 March 2008

Rochdale have signed goalkeeper Tommy Lee on a month-long emergency loan deal from League Two rivals Macclesfield Town. The former Manchester United trainee will provide much-needed back-up to James Spencer, with reserve keeper Sam Russell injured and Lloyd Rigby on loan at Vauxhall Motors.

The 22-year-old, Keighley born, keeper has made a total of 67 appearances for Macclesfield with 20 of those coming this season. The arrival of Keith Alexander and the picking up of an injury saw him lose his place in the starting eleven to Jon Brain and he hasn't actaully featured in a game since 16 February.

The deal for Lee was concluded just before midnight last night and meant that he could be included in the squad to face Notts County, swapping a relegation struggle for a tilt at the play off's.

Lee, who stands at 6ft 2" and weighs in at 12 stones 4lbs, has been given squad number 32.
