Golf club captain drives in the new season

Date published: 10 April 2012

Manchester Golf Club captain Bernard Stone drives in the new season at Hopwood watched by club members and family.

The Middleton based club, which was established 130 years ago, is celebrating 100 years at Hopwood and it promises to be a busy year ahead.

Mr Stone commented: "It's an exciting year to be in office with some special celebrations planned. It's also a very humbling experience when you consider the history of the club and I hope that we can do justice to the heritage and also maintain progress for the next generation of members."

Mr Stone is a director of Hirst, Kidd & Rennie, owners of the Oldham Chronicle and a director of Rochdale Online.
