Olympic victory for Rochdale swimmer

Jamie Kelly, 22, won two gold medals and a silver medal at the Special Olympics of Great Britain National Championships.
A swimmer from Rochdale has won two gold medals and a silver medal at the Special Olympics of Great Britain National Championships.
Jamie Kelly, 22, competed in the championships in Cardiff on 22 and 23 October and won the 400m freestyle. He then went on to win gold in the 50m freestyle and silver in the 200m freestyle, making personal best times in all his races.
Mr Kelly trains at the Oldham Community Leisure Advanced training scheme, Mark Lord, Head Coach for Oldham Aquatics, praised his hard work.
He said: “Jamie is a shining example of what dedication and hard work can achieve.
“Jamie is a very committed swimmer and always attends his training sessions with a winning attitude.
“Jamie attends training at 5.30am 4 mornings each week as well as 4 evening sessions, Jamie is able to compete at such a high level with the support of Oldham community Leisure and Oldham Aquatics swim team.”
