17 medal haul for karate squad

The Dojo Karate Centre squad
A squad from the Dojo Karate Centre has returned from the BSK open championships with an outstanding 17 medal haul – included nine gold medals.
The haul also included five silver medals and three bronze medals.
The following people won medals in the open championships:
- Jack Jolliffe - 3 gold medals and 1 silver medal
- Nathan Chan - 3 gold medals
- Antonio Russo - 1 gold medal and 1 silver medal
- Kieren Roberts - 1 gold medal
- Jack Reilly - 1 gold medal
- Christopher Mills - 1 gold medal
- Michael Allen - 1 silver medal
- Ahmed Shekuwe - 1 silver medal
- Vanessa Russo - 1 bronze medal
- Huseyn Mikayilov - 1 bronze medal
- Katie Eccles - 1 bronze medal
Jack Jolliffe and Nathan Chan, both aged 12, won the Open Age Pairs Kata against much older competitors.
Sensei Irfan Ansari, said: “[The] best performances were from Jack Reilly, Vanessa Russo, Christopher Mills and Michael Allen. Of course everyone else performed well also. This brings our trophy/medals total to an amazing 47.”
The squad still has another couple of competitions left and Sensei Ansari hopes to reach a total of 55 medals.
