Rochdale Swarm scoop top award

The Rochdale Swarm have been awarded the RFL`s North West League for All Team of the Year.

The Swarm was presented with their award by Helen Davis of the RFL during Sunday’s (21 August) Rochdale Hornets V Gateshead Thunder clash.

The Swarm beat off some stiff opposition to win the award in its inaugural year.

In a busy season for the Swarm they again hosted Europe's largest adult Rugby League festival, launched a the successful Rochdale Tag Rugby League Series, helped set a worlds record at the Steve Prescott Touchathon, took part in the first Tag Rugby League Festival in South Wales as well as taking part in the Yorkshire based Tag Rugby League Series.

In another piece of good news for the Swarm the have just taken delivery of a new kit after securing funding from the Sport Unlimited fund thanks to the hard work of Swarm trio of Adam Bates, Matty Fallows and Emily Wynn.

Off the field the Swarm have joined forces with the hugely successful Rochdale Cobras club, who have themselves just been awarded the BARLA Club of the Year as well as winning the North West Regional Summer League.

With a burgeoning Youth section, open age and now the Swarm the Cobras are set to make real waves within the game, especially as they continue to develop their Firgrove home.

Emily Wynn from the Swarm said: "Its a major honour to win our award and we will continue to hopefully set the highest standards in everything we do.”

The Swarm next take the field on Saturday the 3 September in the latest of the RFL`s Tag Rugby League Series.
