Hill has enjoyed a superb month with his side securing five wins from six league fixtures. Dale began the month in style with a home win over high-flying Darlington, before continuing an incredible away run which has seen them remain undefeated in the League since the opening day of the season. Four consecutive wins away from Spotland secured Dale 15 points from a possible 18 and have left Hill's side within striking distance of the play-off places in League Two.
Also short-listed for the January award were Dave Penney of Darlington, Alan Buckley of Grimsby Town, Stockport County's Jim Gannon.
Chris Kamara, chairman of the Coca-Cola Manager of the Month Awards panel, said: "Keith Hill is enjoying a fantastic season at Rochdale. His side have been playing some terrific football over the past few weeks, particularly away from home, where they have recorded wins over the likes of high-flying MK Dons and Darlington. If Rochdale can keep up this fine form there is no reason why they cannot cement a play-off place come the end of the season."
Dave Jones of Cardiff won the award in the Championship and Roberto Martinez of Swansea was given the League 1 accolade.
The decision to present the Championship Manager of the Month award was made by the Awards panel headed by Sky Sports pundit Chris Kamara, former World Cup referee Jack Taylor, on behalf of The Football League, Richard Bevan, Chief Executive of the League Managers Association and Tim Ellerton, Sponsorship Manager, Coca-Cola Great Britain.
