Rochdale AFC deny threat of closure
Date published: 16 April 2007
Rochdale Football Club say they are not under threat of closure from a winding up order brought by the Inland Revenue. An HM Revenue and Customs winding-up order has been published in the London Gazette, however, Chief executive Colin Garlick said: "We are aware of the published winding up order and I'd like to assure our fans that the matter is being dealt with.
“Everyone knows the problems we had in the summer with an outstanding tax bill and an agreement to repay that had been reached.
“Unfortunately for us, grant monies expected arrived significantly late and this caused us a major problem with cash flow.
“This statement is issued because we don’t want our fans reading something somewhere and thinking this football club is in any danger, because it is not.
“This matter is under control and we would like to assure our supporters that we are focused on finishing this season as strongly as we can, while also continuing to plan and prepare for next season.”
