Weavers win Trippier Cup Final
Date published: 10 May 2007
Weavers Arms won the Rochdale Online Alliance League's A W Trippier Cup Final, played on Wednesday 9 May at Castleton Gabriel’s, three goals to one. A crowd of over one hundred saw Weaver's effectively put the game beyond doubt with three first half goals - a brace for Nicky Hand and one for Chris Harris.
Littleborough did rally in the second half and Adam Butterworth reduced the deficit via the penalty spot but there was never much doubt that Weavers would hold on to take the trophy.
The Cup was presented by Claire Blanthorn, Finance Director of sponsors Rochdale Online. Ms Blanthorn said: "It was an excellent cup final, competitive but played with a good spirit. Congratulations to Weavers and commiserations to Littleborough."
