Jack To The Rescue

Date published: 18 May 2007

The final game of the season was one many Rochdale supporters won't forget following a remarkable comeback to take a share of the spoils. But for one fan and his Dad, the day was over-shadowed by a thief who took a shirt they had just been given by Dale kitman Jack Northover.

Jack came to the rescue on Wednesday afternoon after hearing the story and presented Andy's Dad, the Reverend Harvey Nichol with Simon Ramsden's signed away shirt. Jack was pleased he could help but was very angry to think a fellow supporter could do such a thing.

"I don't know how any Dale fan can steal off another like that it sickens me if I'm honest," said Jack. "I gave away a couple of shirts at the end of the Peterborough game to some of those who stayed behind after the match. When I heard the story that a supposed Dale fan had pinched it I was only too pleased to step forward and help. I am glad I could do something and I only hope whoever took the other sleeps easy at night."

Revd Harvey Nichol said: "I would just like to thank the football club for the very kind gesture and I know Andy will be made up. We were disapponited to say the least that someone on our coach could do such a thing but our faith in human nature has been restored by the actions of the club and I cannot thank them enough."
