Rochdale Online FC beaten in final game

Date published: 22 May 2007

Rochdale Online FC did not go out with the copybook performance they hoped for in the very last game the club will play before disbanding. They were well beaten by an impressive Norden team in the final of the Rochdale amp; District Sunday Football League's Denis John Trophy.

Norden proved to be the better team right from the kick off and it is credit to the dogged resistance of the Online team that they kept Norden out for eighty of the ninety minutes,  Williams and Brierley breaking through in the final ten minutes to give Norden a well earned victory.

Retiring ROFC manager Nick Blackburn said: "It wasn't our day today, we didn't have a shot on target. I would have liked to go out winning the cup, however, after 25 years of playing and 15 years of running the club it is time to retire."
