Hornets back to league action after cup heroics
Date published: 16 May 2009
Hornets are aiming to kick on from last week’s Carnegie Challenge Cup heroics against Huddersfield, says coach Darren Shaw.
The Hornets lost 38-12 but produced an outstanding performance and drew the second half 12-12.
Shaw said: “We did a lot of pretty good stuff and we grew as the game wore on, which was very encouraging.
“It gives the boys a little bit of belief. We got joy from the things we worked on in training and our discipline was good, too. Hopefully we can use it as a springboard for the rest of the year.”
Shaw is likely to name a similar line up for Sunday’s Co-operative Championship One clash with York.
He added: “York are going well and they play with a lot of enthusiasm. We lost the battle in the contact area last time we met but we’ll be looking to improve in that area and give them a good challenge this week.”
Knights boss Paul March watched Hornets’ game with Huddersfield.
March said: “They’ve improved a lot. I was very impressed with Brett Robinson at half back and we’ll have to make sure keep him quiet on Sunday.”
York are set to be at full strength for the weekend.
