Double-header for Swarm this weekend
Date published: 23 April 2009
The Rochdale Swarm have a busy weekend ahead with games on both Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday morning sees the Swarm travel over to Castleford for a small Tag Rugby League Festival involving the Wakefield City Webcats, Featherstone Phoenix and the hosts of the event the Smawthorne Panthers.
The Festival is one of a series of events organised by the RFL as part of a push to increase participation in Tag, Touch and Masters Rugby League.
Sunday morning has the Swarm as hosts to the Leeds Lost Loiners in a Tag Merit League fixture.
The two sides have never met before in League action so it will be an interesting clash and one the Swarm hope to perform well in after a poor display in their opening league fixture away to York.
Training has gone well this week so the Swarm are confident of putting up a good display at both events.
The Rochdale Swarm are also entering a couple of players in the Hornets Sprint Challenge and are hopeful their speedsters can put on a good show against the cream of the local Amateur scene.
All players for the Saturday festival are asked to meet at 9am at the Firgrove Working Mens Club, while Sunday's meeting time is 10am, again at Firgrove Workers.
