Hill reflects on 'emotional' Wycombe win

Date published: 23 March 2009

Rochdale moved back into the League Two automatic promotion places with Saturday's memorable win at Wycombe on Saturday (21 March) and Dale boss Keith Hill said that the scenes after the game were emotional for him and his players.

Dale won in the game in injury time, when top-scorer Adam Le Fondre rifled home a loose ball from eight yards out to send manager, fans and players alike into ecstacy after Dale had dominated the game but looked as though they would have to settle for a draw.

"The emotion and the joy when the winner went in were incredible, not just for Flicker (Assistant manager, Dave Flitcroft) but for all the players and the fans. It was a collective success and it always will be - it was superb to be able to celebrate like that together."

Dale created chances throughout the afternoon, with Le Fondre, Lee Thorpe, Scott Wiseman and Adam Rundle all either coming within inches of a goal or forcing fine saves from Wycombe goalkeeper Marek Stech.

"We were unfortunate not to win more comfortably," continued Hill. "I thought that we were magnificent in every aspect.

"I am absolutely over the moon about every aspect of today, every aspect of our week and every aspect of our season so far. There is a collective urgency and desire to be successful."
