The View from the Stands - Hereford vs Rochdale
Rochdale and Hereford fans have given their thoughts on the game in which Dale undeservedly picked up their first league point of the season. Chris Dagnall opened the scoring for Dale from the penalty spot midway through the first half but their lead lasted just five minutes, with Theo Robinson latching onto a long ball and finishing calmly. Hereford were camped in the Dale half but could not find a winner in the second half. The performance has left the Dale fans scratching their heads over the team's poor start to the season.
Rochdale fan, Jordan Schofield:
"It's sad to say that Keith Hill stopped us from winning a game we could have. When the starting line up was announced it was going to be a long day, with three central midfielders and one winger - what was going on?
[Simon] Ramsden showed his vulnerability defensively again. We were shocking in midfield with [Gary] Jones non existent, [David] Perkins not his usual self, probably because he was overcrowed, and [John] Doolan could not adapt to the game. [Glenn] Murray didn't play well but he had no service. Chris Daggnall was man of the match with a tireless display.
Hill has to play wingers with [Ben] Muirhead and [Adam] Rundle - Why were they not starting the game? We have to get the ball wide and create.
The game was boring, spoiled by the referee who seemed to give a free kick every time a challenge went in.
We didn't deserve anything from the game and against a better team we would have been destroyed. Not the start to the season we wanted, roll on Tuesday and Norwich. Sort it out Hilly [Keith Hill]!"
Hereford fans' views on the unofficial Hereford United forum:
"We did more than enough to have thrashed Rochdale."
"I was a little disappointed at today's offerings. Why did we insist on trying to knock everything through Rochdale's Guy Branston? He was player of the match for Rochdale but only because we made him look good. We can not keep having that many shots and not outscoring the opposition. Rochdale were poor and it was two points dropped for us."
