Dale and Hornets games off
Date published: 08 February 2009
Both of Rochdale's major sporting outfits had their games called off this weekend due to frozen pitches.
The football club were set to host Morecambe with the chance to move into the League Two automatic promotion places but they remain fourth after the game was called off early yesterday morning. Results elsewhere were mostly favourable for Dale and with Bury surrendering a two goal lead at home to Dagenham and Redbridge, Dale are just two points off their local rivals with two games in hand.
Meanwhile Rochdale Hornets will have to wait another week before playing their first game as a new club after their game at Oldham in the Northern Railway Cup was also called off.
The club were boosted this week by the signing of experienced forwards Tommy Gallagher and Martin McLoughlin but are expected to start the season with a nine point deduction after going into administration.
