Bury rival pips Dale boss to monthly prize

Bury manager Alan Knill has staved of competition from Rochdale boss Keith Hill to become the League Two Manager of the Month for January.

Hill's name was on the shortlist of four, which also included Darlington's Dave Penney and Gillingham's Mark Stimson, but Knill was announced as the winner earlier today.

The month saw Rochdale record three wins and a draw as they moved back into the League Two play-off positions but Bury's four victories enabled Knill to take the prize, with his side currently third in the division just one point above Dale in fourth.
