Noon showdown for local rivals
Date published: 20 January 2009
The packed away end during Rochdale's visit to Bury last season.
The local derby between Rochdale and Bury at Gigg Lane has been moved to a midday kick off to avoid crowd trouble.
Isolated incidents have flared up among small sections of supporters during recent clashes between the two sides and, following discussions between club officials, Greater Manchester Police and the Football League, the match will now be played at 12 noon on Saturday 7 March.
Last season's game between Rochdale and Bury at Gigg Lane saw the kick off delayed by 15 minutes with Dale fans still queing at the turnstyles at 3pm.
In view of this the visiting supporters will be housed in the West Stand, also known as the Manchester Road End, for this season's clash as it houses more fans.
Bury are also urging supporters to buy their tickets ahead of the game in order to avoid similar scenes to last season.
