Adam McGovern and Chris Robinson of Hollingworth Lake Sailing Team are supporting Sail 4 Cancer and will be racing in the West Lancashire Yacht Club 24 hour non-stop race.
Mr McGovern said: "We have thought about doing the race non stop before but have never taken it any further than that. We have set our stall out properly to do it this year; we have got a good support team who will be just as important as us, without them we wouldn’t have a chance of completing the race. The boat was new in April so should be more than good enough to complete the race.
"We are looking forward to the challenge, we know its going to be incredibly hard but we feel it is a very an achievable target. The best comment so far has come from Chris when he said, 'I get the impression from people this might be quite hard'! We are quietly confident and hope that we might even beat a few teams along the way!
"When it came to deciding who to raise money for that bit was easy, Sail4Cancer is a fantastic charity the work it does with cancer sufferers and their families is outstanding. We are pleased to be raising money for such a worth while cause. With that in mind I would like to thank everyone who has already sponsored and supported us."
