Hockey: Rochdale Men's 2nds 1 - 7 Bowden Men's 5ths

Date published: 14 November 2024

Rochdale faced a difficult start against Bowden on Saturday 9 November. Bowden pressed well and the home side struggled to play out from the back. They frequently gave the ball away and put themselves under a lot of pressure. Bowden didn’t take long to open the scoring. Patches of Rochdale’s play were good, but by halftime they were 4-0 down. Coach Ansari gave some words of wisdom and highlighted a few things to work on for the second half.

From Rochdale’s perspective, the second half was a little better. The home side enjoyed more possession and created a little more, but Bowden understood the details of hockey better. When they were attacking, they knew how to find what look like innocent areas, that then open up dangerous goal scoring opportunities. Rochdale just aren’t at that level yet. Bowden scored another three in the second half.

The home side did get a goal back though. A series of direct passes, allowed newcomer Josh Armer to burst through on goal, get in the circle and slot it into the bottom corner. He’ll be a star one day, if he sticks at it.

Final score Rochdale 1 - 7 Bowden.
