Rochdale’s Muhammad Ali has another win under his belt, after a victory over Mykhailo Sovtus on Saturday night (6 May).
The ‘Diabetic Kid’ defeated the Ukrainian boxer at the Bolton Whites Hotel in a fight where neither took a step back.
However, Ali took control, settling into the fight from Round 1 using his jab. The fight was action packed and saw Ali come away with a win in each round.
Ali became the first UK boxer with type one diabetes to fight professionally in September 2018, following a three-year battle against the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC); he now aspires to become the first diabetic champion.
He trains under coach Humphrey Harrison at Oliver’s Gym in Salford.
He said: “Thank you to all of my team, my coach Humphrey, all the sponsors who continuously support me on my journey.”
