Rochdale right back Simon Ramsden is facing at least a month out of first team action after hobbling off in Dale's 3-1 win at Accrington Stanley on Sunday.
The 27-year old pulled up with a calf strain with just half an hour of the game played and Keith Hill was forced to replace him with 21-year old Scott Wiseman.
Wiseman, who signed from Darlington in the summer, is now set for an extended spell in the first team while Ramsden recovers. He has started only two games so far in his short Dale career, away at Grimsby on the first day of the season and the 1-1 home draw with local rivals Bury.
Commenting on Ramsden's injury to Rochdale's Official website, Dale physio Andy Thorpe said: "From the sidelines at Accrington it did look like he had been shot. When you get situations like that it is usually serious and in Simon's case in terms of a timescale I would say that he will be at least a month before he is anywhere near ready."
