Copperpot go 3G

Date published: 15 September 2008

Rochdale Sunday Football League side Copperpot FC have become the first team in Rochdale to play their home games on 3G astroturf when they take advantage of the new facility at Matthew Moss High School for the coming season.

The club have been working closely with Matthew Moss to form a link between the club and the school and this enabled the team to secure the pitch for the new season.

Club spokesman Tony McCarroll said: "Although it is slightly more expensive to hire this sort of pitch the club decided that this was the way forward after having so many games called off because of the wet weather, and thanks to the Main Sponsors The Copperpot Restaurant at Sandbrook Park they were able to obtain the funding to help with the cost."
The Club would like to remind all their opposing teams for the season that ONLY moulded boots or Astro Trainers will be allowed for playing on the surface.
