Rochdale manager Keith Hill hinted that he would make a move in the loan market this week and with strikers Jon Shaw and Lee Thorpe not fully fit, the Dale boss has recruited 18-year old Ipswich Town front man Jordan Rhodes.
The Barnsley born striker has signed on a month's loan to bolster a strike force that has been lacking goals this season.
Rhodes arrives at Spotland very highly rated by the Championship club and has scored hatfulls goals at youth and reserve team levels for the Portman Road side.
He moved from Barnsley to Ipswich in 2005 when his father Andy became goalkeeping coach with the Tractor Boys.
Rhodes' first time chances have been limited in Norfolk, having made just a couple of substitutes appearances so far this season, so he is hoping to play plenty of first team football and improve the Dale side during his time at Spotland.
He spent a month on loan with Blue Square Premier League side Oxford United last season, making three starts and one substitutes appearance without scoring a goal. He has scored one goal for Ipswich in ten substitute appearances.
Rhodes goes straight into the Dale squad to face Rotherham United tomorrow (Saturday 13 September), 3pm kick off at the Don Valley Stadium.
