Soil from Crown Oil Arena pitch donated to Wardle Football Club
The soil removed from the Crown Oil Arena pitch during recent renovations has been put to good use after the football club donated it to local junior side Wardle Football Club.
A spokesperson for Rochdale Football Club said: “Wardle Juniors have teams ranging from Under-7s right through to Under-16s, and we are delighted to be helping out a local grassroots club.
“Our thanks go to waste removal experts RTK Grab Hire, who transported the soil."
Rik Fielding from Wardle Football Club said: “Wardle Football Club is solely run by volunteers, not just helping during match days and training, but maintaining our facility (including the pitches) to be the best all year round.
“This excellent donation from Rochdale Football Club means our pitches can be repaired to a high standard and save the club a lot of money, money that can be put back into the club.
“Wardle Football Club are always looking for ways to raise funding to make sure the next generation have a place to play, maybe the next Dale superstar who knows, but again a big thank you to Rochdale Football Club.”
Contractors completed works on the Crown Oil Arena pitch last week, with the growing period now underway.
