The Beach serves up a dream deal for Littleborough Juniors football team

Date published: 02 November 2018

Hollingworth Lake’s The Beach has given Littleborough Juniors Under 9’s Yellow team a double boost.

Not only has the popular Greene King pub and carvery generously sponsored the boys’ new kit, but manager Daniel Rushton has also arranged for the team to be mascots at a Salford City match.

Providing the perfect opportunity to show off their brand new kits, the boys escorted the Salford City players onto the pitch as they took on Ebbsfleet United.  As well as meeting the players, the team was given a tour of the Peninsula Stadium and was able to pick up some hints and tips as they watched Salford City draw 1-1.

Sue Hampshire, committee member at Littleborough Juniors, commented: “We are always incredibly grateful to those local businesses that step up to sponsor our teams – their support is invaluable in terms of keeping the grassroots game alive.

She continued: “I know the Under 9’s Yellow team is especially thrilled with its backing from The Beach.  Its kit was in urgent need of updating and the boys were delighted with their new strip. They’ve also enjoyed a ‘signing on’ meal at the restaurant and, of course - the icing on the cake - being team mascots at a professional match, something that most junior football fans can only dream of doing.”

Daniel Rushton, manager at The Beach, added: “We are always happy to support community initiatives whenever possible and were really excited to get behind the Under 9’s.  They’re a great little team and we shall be following their progress carefully during the season.”

Ian Lambert, parent and one of the team’s coaches, concluded: “We feel very lucky to have got The Beach on board and are also so grateful to Daniel for arranging a super day out for the team.  All the parents were very proud to see the boys out on the pitch – it’s an experience that will stay with us and the boys forever.”
