Rochdale’s sporting facilities have changed very little in last decade

Sporting facilities in Rochdale have changed very little in the last 10 years, Rochdale Online can reveal.
There are currently 293 sporting facilities available to the public, down by just one in a decade.
We used Sport England’s Active Places database to determine what types of sporting facility are offered locally, and how this changed over the last 10 years.
Sports catered for in 2018 include:
- Artificial grass pitch – 19 (up by five)
- Athletics tracks – one (unchanged)
- Cycling – one (unchanged)
- Golf – 11 (up by one)
- Grass pitches – 134 (down by three)
- Health and fitness suite – 19 (down by five)
- Indoor tennis centre – two (up by one)
- Sports hall – 30 (unchanged)
- Squash courts – 15 (down by one)
- Studio – 22 (up by two)
- Swimming pool – 14 (down by one)
- Tennis courts – 25 (unchanged)
Based on the most recent population census, this is one facility for every 723 people.
