Rochdale snapped up Halifax Town striker Jon Shaw on Friday afternoon (4 July) for undisclosed fee. The 24-year old has signed a two year deal at Spotland after scoring 20 goals in the Conference for the West Yorkshire side last season.
It is believed that the small fee Dale paid for Shaw will go to the club's administrators after they fell into financial ruin at the end of last season.
Shaw told the Rochdale official website: "Rochdale didn't have to do a hard sell on me after the performances last year and them nearly getting promoted."
"They had a fantastic season and it is great for me to come to a club that is looking to get promotion to League One."
Dale beat a number of competitors to Shaw's signature, including Bury and Stockport County. He was named the best striker in non-league football last season in a poll by The Non-League Paper and he pick up a host of awards at Halifax's end of season awards ceremony.
