Thorpe extends stay at Spotland

Date published: 04 July 2008

Rochdale striker Lee Thorpe has extended his stay with the club by six months. It was believed the 32-year old was surplus to requirements and had left the club at the end of the season but Dale's struggle in the search for a new striker has seen Thorpe offered a six-month contract extension.

Thorpe joined Dale from Brentford in January and scored his only goal for Dale against them in March's visit to Griffin Park.

He missed the end of last season through injury having made eight appearances in Keith Hill's side.

Thorpe was already out of Dale's play-off campaign after picking up a severe dead leg but worse was to come as he broke his arm in an arm-wrestling contest during the team's trip to Darlington in the first leg of the play-offs.
