World Cup guide for football fans in Rochdale
Date published: 12 May 2006
Football fans from Rochdale travelling to the World Cup in Germany next month should pack a new guide to make their stay as 'hassle-free' as possible.
The European Consumer Centre (ECC) has produced a free booklet to ensure that England supporters know their rights when out on the town in Germany.
The guide contains information on customers' rights when shopping or booking hotel rooms as well as emergency contact numbers and health advice.
It also reminds British citizens to make sure they get their European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) before travelling. This replaces the old E111 forms and makes it much easier to get medical treatment abroad.
Rochdale Liberal Democrat Euro-MP Chris Davies is encouraging football fans to get a copy before they head off to the matches.
He said: "Travelling across Europe has become easier and cheaper since the EU bust open the old state airlines' monopoly. Consumers now also have many common rights but they are only of use if travellers know they exist."
