Rochdale manager Keith Hill is being linked with a move away from Spotland.
Charlton have reportedly expressed an interest in Hill - but Blackburn remain in pole position.
Blackburn are thought to be slow in pushing through a deal, and that has opened the door for Charlton to enter the mix.
Bolton-born Hill, 47, has had two spells in charge of Rochdale.
He has twice guided Rochdale to promotion from League Two.
