Investment scheme launches to get Greater Manchester Moving

Date published: 09 May 2016

Greater Manchester charity, GreaterSport have launched the GM Moving Investment Scheme. They are looking for people, communities, organisations, workplaces, etc who would like to run activity between July and December this year to apply for up to £2,000 to help them get started.

The GM Moving Investment scheme allows a range of organisations to access money for projects that are outside of traditional funding sources.

The scheme supports the pledges within Greater Manchester Moving, a campaign that launched in July 2015 and will be looking for projects that:

  • Drive GreaterSport to achieve their vision of  'one million people doing regular activity by 2017'
  • Work to deliver the 10 pledges of Greater Manchester Moving
  • Uses the summer’s major sporting events as a catalyst to grow participation
  • Targets inactive people

Matt Johnson, Deputy CEO commented: “GreaterSport’s aim is to get one million people active by 2017, this investment will allow others to influence what opportunities are available for Greater Manchester and help us towards our target.

We are hoping to receive some innovative ideas that capitalise on the international sporting events taking place this summer, and we look forward to seeing a lasting impact from this across Greater Manchester.”

The scheme will be open to applications from Friday 6 May to Friday 3 June for projects that will be delivered between Monday 4 July and Thursday 29 December 2016. The maximum grant available will be £2,000.
