Luke Pickup Taylor wins inside the distance

Date published: 11 April 2016

Luke Pickup Taylor, 16, stopped Sikander Nazir of Warrior Breed Boxing Club in Dewsbury to win in his first contest for Hamer Boxing Club when he travelled to Batley Sports Centre.

With the crowd behind him Nazir showed from the start that wasn't going to pussyfoot around. The heavily muscled boxer immediately stormed out of his corner at the sound of the first bell and caught Taylor by surprise with crunching punches.

The noise in the arena was deafening, when suddenly Taylor unloaded a straight right-hand punch to the chin of Nazir and the Dewsbury boxer fell to the floor. After the count was administered both boxers met in the middle of the ring throwing big punches up until the bell.

It was a big round for the Taylor but it took its toll on him and at the start of the second round Taylor showed signs of distress as the heavier punches from Nazir began to connect.

This continued for the first minute or so with the crowd believing that Nazir was edging back into the contest when quite suddenly Taylor unleashed another cracking right hand that sent Nazir to the canvas again.

The Dewsbury boxer was back on his feet but you could see he was not the same boxer and it showed when Taylor floored him again with another right hand, leaving the referee no option but to call an end to the bout in Taylor's favour.
