Preview of Easter Monday's ROAFL cup final

Date published: 23 March 2016

Easter Monday sees the second of the Rochdale Online Alliance Football League’s cup finals as Fothergill & Whittles take on White Lion in the Chairman’s Cup Final at Fox Park, home of Rochdale Sacred Heart; kick off 11am.

The two sides met in the qualifying stages back in October with White Lion 3-0 winners; a result that enabled them to top the group on goal difference from Fothergills.

The two sides have yet to meet in the league this season, and those games will have a significant effect on the title race; especially for White Lion, who are emerging as Rochdale Sacred Heart’s closest challengers at the top of the Sartori Sharpening Services Premier Division.

The finalists had contrasting results in their respective semis; White Lion edged a tight game against holders Walsden 4-3 whilst Fothergills demolished FC Littleborough 10 -1 with four goals for Sam Lee.

The battle for midfield supremacy will probably determine the outcome of what is expected to be a tight and bitterly contested final.

Admission on the day is £2 adults and £1 concessions, and it is hoped a decent crowd will turn out and make the most of Rochdale Sacred Heart’s extensively upgraded facilities.

There is limited parking space available at Fox Park due to development work so spectators are advised to park within walking distance of the ground.
