Danyal Mahmood keeps up Queensway ABC's winning streak

Date published: 04 March 2016

Danyal Mahmood kept up Queensway Amateur Boxing Club's winning streak when he travelled to Liverpool to take on Croxteth ABC boxer, Elliot Dwyer.

Mahmood was confident as all his preparations had gone to plan and his fitness was bang on, said coach John Finnerty.

The first round saw Mahmood start cautiously working behind his long southpaw jab whilst working out what Dywer had to offer.  He took the round comfortably.

Mahmood picked up the pace in the second round and started bringing in straight shot combinations which were hitting home every time and left the Croxteth boxer a little lost and frustrated.

The third round went pretty much the same again as Mahmood stepped it up another gear and forced  Dwyer back with every attack.

Towards the end of the round the referee was taking a closer look at Dwyer as the relentless shots of the Queensway boxer were starting to take its toll.

At the bell Mahmood ran away with a clear unanimous points victory.

After the fight coach Tim Malkin said: “In the gym Danyal is a credit to work with, listening and taking on board all advice given. He is well ahead of most of the boxers at this stage in his career. That is what boxing is about.”
