Challenge Cup: Mayfield v Rochdale Hornets

Its back to reality this week for Rochdale Mayfield as the first team take a rest after their tough game against Hornets last week then a Standard cup semi final on Thursday night against Oldham St Annes.

The performance against Hornets was a pleasing one, with the Mayfield camp and more than a few of the neutrals, believing the scoreline wasn't a true reflection of the game.

The overall performance from the Mayfield side was a credit to the players, even more so when you take into account the fact that there was four of last years under 18s playing plus new Aussie Sean Watkins who still hasn't got warm yet after arriving in Rochdale in January.

Saturday is the turn of the A team to take the stage as they face a tough trip to Leigh Miners in the NWML Trophy first round.

Dave Harmer will delay naming his team to see who is fit after the first team game on Thursday but he is hopeful to have a strong side to make the journey.
