Hollingworth Lake Rowing Club (HLRC) entered a team of juniors on a wet and cold day on the Bridgewater Canal for the Trafford Head on Saturday 20 February.

The races were over a long course of 3,200m and a short course of 1,000m.

Maurice Barber, in the J15 single scull, and Maggie Page in the WJ14 single scull, both raced the 1000m course.

Maurice had a good race against strong opposition.

Maggie, in a race with nine competitors came an excellent third place.

In the long course race, Sally Tisdall put in a hard fought performance in her WJ15 single sculls race.

Hannah Lowe came second in the Women's Novice single scull against older opposition.

In only his fourth time in a single scull, Josh Gordon, completed the Men's Novice Single on a time only basis. He was pleased to have ended the race dry, and still in his boat.

In the WJ15 double scull, Sally Tisdall and Maggie Page put in an excellent performance in difficult conditions.

Harriet Jackson and Lucy Lonergan fought hard in the WJ16 double sculls race to finish a highly creditable second place, both extremely pleased with their performance.

In the Men's J15 coxed quad, Harry Heywood, Tom Wing, Maurice Barber and Tom Bland, with Olivia Smith coxing, had a good strong race. It was Tom and Olivia’s first racing experience and over a long distance they put in a performance to make themselves proud.

All the HLRC crews worked hard and Club Captain, Ian John, was pleased to see the great effort everyone made, and how promising it looks for future races.
