Alkrington golfers tee off at ‘Captain’s Drive In’

The new golfing year at Blackley Golf Club began last Sunday (28 February), with the traditional ‘Captain’s Drive In’.
Incoming president Barry Wilson, club captain Ian Lowe, lady captain Bernadette Kilcommons and junior captain Elliot Morgan fired their golf balls down the 18th Fairway, in front of an appreciative and noisy group of over 100 members.
The President, junior captain and lady captain all live in Alkrington, Middleton.
77% of the Blackley Golf Club members live within the Borough of Rochdale, the course is mainly in Middleton with parts stretching the boundaries of Manchester and Chadderton, Oldham.
