Grant Holt returns to Rochdale

Former Premier League striker Grant Holt has signed for Rochdale until the end of the season in what is a major coup for the club.

Holt scored 42 goals in made 83 appearances for Rochdale between 2004 and 2006 before moving to Nottingham Forest in January 2006.

He scored 18 goals in all competitions to become the club's top scorer and won the fans 'Player of the Season' award.

Holt moved to when Shrewsbury Town in June 2008 and finished the 2008/09 season as joint-top scorer for League Two, with 20 League goals, as well as, winning League Two Player of the Year, Shrewsbury Town Player of the Year and named in the League Two PFA Team of the Year for the 2008–09 season.

In July 2009, Holt transferred to Norwich City and won the Player of the Year award in his first season, having scored 30 goals in 44 appearances in total, as the club finished as champions of League One and earned promotion to The Championship.

He was the winner of Norwich's player of the season for a second consecutive year as the club were promoted to the Premier League.

Holt scored 15 league goals for Norwich in his first season as a Premier division player, and was voted Norwich player of the year for the third season in succession.

He was inducted into the Norwich City Hall of Fame in March 2012.

Holt joined Wigan Athletic on three-year deal in July 2013, for an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of £2 million.

After spells out on loan at Aston Villa, Huddersfield and Wolverampton Wanderers, Holt has now rejoined Rochdale.

Holt will wear the number 18 shirt.
