Middfest treasure winners announced

Date published: 31 July 2012

The two winners of Middfest’s ‘Find the Pirate’s Treasure’ hunt which began earlier this month have been revealed.

Starting off at Parkfield Playing Fields, Sarah Jackson and Caden Smith were the lucky entrants to find the treasure last weekend. Sarah and Caden were delighted to win a £20 gift voucher each.

Organised by Sue Furby of Middleton Rotary Club and the Youth and Vocational Projects Committee (YVPC), the treasure hunt raised money for various youth projects across Middleton. Cardinal Langley, St. Anne’s Academy and local primary schools are among those set to benefit over the next academic year.

Sue said: “Thanks to everyone who supported this fundraising event; your support is greatly appreciated.”

Tickets are coming in from Middfest’s balloon race, in which 170 balloons were let off with tickets to be returned if found.

Balloon race organiser Janice Powell said: “We’ve had three tickets returned so far; two from Doncaster and another arrived this morning all the way from Ossett in West Yorkshire.

“We’ve also had an email from somebody who’s found a balloon in Nottingham who’s sending their ticket back to us soon.”

The treasure hunt and balloon race raised a total of £230.
