Rotary club gives money to Dragon’s Den applicants

The Rotary Club of Middleton has presented over £4,500 to community groups who applied to the Club's Dragon's Den initiative.

The club had urged Middleton community groups and organisations’ to get in touch and apply for cash for their projects.

Each of the entrants was asked how Rotary cash would benefit their organisations and the Community Service Committee lead by Rotarian Tony Gardner evaluated the requests and determined the distribution.

Tony Gardner said: “It was really good to know that the cash that we raised would go to local causes and that we were able to meet the organisers and learn more of their activities. We feel so much more connected with our community.”

Many of the groups helped raise the cash by joining Rotary Club members as they toured the streets of Middleton with their Christmas float.

The cheques were presented to the community groups at a presentation evening held at the Norton Grange Hotel.
